Foreward by Emma Martin:
Amanda, being her modest self will tell me off for this title! But in my opinion, she really is a HERO! I started visiting Amanda for Reiki in 2019 when I began my job at Mind Mental health charity. I was no longer having therapy, but I wanted to have something booked in each month to support my emotional wellbeing which was when I looked into reiki and holistic therapies. I was sceptical, but during the first session , I felt such a shift in my energy.
Amanda has been a huge guide for me in my spiritual journey, and I can’t wait to resume my monthly sessions with her! Find out about what inspires her, and her journey to become a ‘light worker’:
Tell us a bit about yourself….
I’m a Holistic therapist based in St John’s, Woking. I’ve been practicing therapies since 2001 when I first qualified in Anatomy and Physiology to study massage therapy. I worked in offices for many years and practiced therapies in the evening and weekends, then 6 years ago I took the plunge to become self employed and I’ve not looked back since! I love yoga, I try and practice it every day, and I love going on retreats, such a great escape and a chance to recharge! I also love going for long walks in nature, and sunny holidays when we are allowed!
What does mindfulness mean to you?
Mindfulness is such a great practice and has helped me become much calmer and more focused over the years. For me, it was a natural follow on for the yoga and meditation that I practice. To be fully present in the moment is such a great skill to learn, it really does help to stop all the brain chatter! It’s something that I bring into my therapy sessions with clients, even if it’s just some deep breathing. It’s an important part of learning to relax.
What are your ‘go-to’ self care rituals?
I do stretches every morning and most mornings some kind of yoga practice. I practice gratitude every day and list all the things and people I’m thankful for each morning. That helps to start the day on a positive note! I love a soak in the bath with bubble bath and bath salts. I try and read something inspiring regularly too.
Whats the best part of your job?
As well as being a massage therapist and reflexologist, I’m a Reiki Master and love working with energy healing. It’s a privilege to work with clients in an energetic way and I’m particularly interested in the chakra system and how when that’s out of balance it affects our health and wellbeing. I’ve also recently qualified as a Life Coach and my aim is to combine the spiritual energy healing with coaching to help clients on an emotional and energetic level.
What is your favourite quote?
I live by the moto ‘change your thoughts, change your life!’ I truly believe anything is possible if you put your mind to it!
